Announced last year during a Nintendo Direct presentation, Mario Sports Superstars is the latest title to showcase the Mushroom Kingdom crew’s considerable athletic prowess. Nintendo revealed today that it’s headed to Nintendo 3DS in just a couple of short months on March 24.
Mario Sports Superstars includes five games: soccer, tennis, baseball, golf, and horse racing, which has never been featured in a Mario sports game before. You’ll be able to enjoy all of these games in both local and online multiplayer modes with up to 5 other people, though every player must own a copy of the game to join in – no download play this time around, sorry.
Nintendo is also releasing a series of Mario Sports Superstars amiibo cards that unlock bonuses like “superstar versions” of each character. One card will be packed in with the game at launch, while others can be purchased in blind packs for $5. Remember that you’ll need either a New Nintendo 3DS system or an amiibo reader to take advantage of this functionality.
