Square Enix Enters Into Partnership with Marvel

Square Enix Enters Into Partnership with Marvel

Yesterday, Square Enix made an enigmatic tweet that told us to keep an eye on social media for an “exciting announcement.” That tease culminated in the surprising reveal that the company has formed a partnership with Marvel Entertainment.

The creative venture is a multi-year, multi-game licensing agreement wherein Square Enix will develop new titles based on Marvel Super Heroes properties. The first is The Avengers , developed by Crystal Dynamics (which previously worked on Tomb Raider ) and Eidos Montreal (best known for its work on Deus Ex ). Details on the game are scant, aside from a cinematic teaser trailer, which you can view below.

The Avengers is still a long ways out – Square Enix says that more details will be released in 2018. The same goes for the other games being developed in partnership with Marvel. Maybe an Avengers world in Kingdom Hearts III isn’t such a far-fetched idea after all.
