Square Enix Announces a New IP and Studio

Square Enix Announces a New IP and Studio

Square Enix has surprisingly announced a new RPG IP, and it isn’t even from I Am Setsuna’ s Tokyo RPG Factory. Instead, a whole new subsidiary studio has been started by the publisher. Hideo Baba, longtime producer of Bandai Namco’s Tales series, is at the helm.

The project is currently known as Project Prelude Rune . Very little information aside from some concept art is available, but the project is being described as an “Animetic RPG.” This means it could end up looking a bit like Tales of Berseria, those some of the initial art wouldn’t be out of place in a The Legend of Zelda or Final Fantasy game.

The name of the developer is Studio Istolia, which is Greek for “history.” It is actively hiring, meaning whatever Project Prelude Rune is, we won’t be playing it for a while. Between this and that Marvel partnership, Square Enix has certainly been on fire lately!
