Mass Effect: Andromeda Has Tons of Voice Acting

Mass Effect: Andromeda Has Tons of Voice Acting

Here’s more Mass Effect: Andromeda news you hungry fans, you! Lead Writer on the game, Mac Walters mentioned during PAX East that Andromeda has “over 1,200 speaking characters.” To put that into perspective, Mass Effect 3 only had around 670. Walters added, “When you look at the dialogue options, we’re basically [at] the equivalent of Mass Effect 2 and 3 put together.”

Mass Effect: Andromeda Producer, Michael Gamble, built off of this statement by saying, “the amount of stuff you and that character can talk about is also larger—especially the squad. We made sure the squad was beefy, and developed, and that you could do different things with them and then that information would basically carry through the conversations. That was a large focus.” The 1,200 speaking characters will not all be low-level like shopkeepers but “one step above that.”

You meet new people in the game by scoring “Andromeda Visibility” points, which let you wake up colonists. Also, planets have Viability levels that, when high enough, allow you to create an outpost. Outposts then unlock new areas that have even more characters to encounter. Look forward to Mass Effect: Andromeda finally releasing on March 21!
