This console generation continues to be headed towards the Resident Evil singularity with a new re-release for the rather solid Resident Evil Revelations. Originally a 3DS game and previously re-released on last-gen systems (and Steam), this is the latest in a line of ports including Resident Evil 0, 4, 5, 6 and of course the native Revelations 2.
Resident Evil Revelations was notable for being arguably the first good handheld outing for the series. It also bridged the story between Resident Evil 4 and 5 and brought back classic characters from the older games.
With the upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake, all that needs to happen is some sort of treatment for the third game, and the entire core series will be available on current platforms. That’s pretty rad, for fans and anyone interested. It’s always cool to see the barrier to access classic games lowered with budget-priced products like these.
