MLB The Show 17 Glitch Is the Stuff of Nightmares

MLB The Show 17 Glitch Is the Stuff of Nightmares

Sometimes video games get weird, especially early on when the developers are actively ironing out the kinks. A tweet from Operations Sports’ Steve Noah took the Internet by storm over the weekend, when he shared a shot of a horrifying glitch that was present in an early version of MLB The Show 17 .

This MLB The Show 17 glitch appears to have totally destroyed the character models entirely from the neck up, turning baseball players from the usual sports videogame pseudorealistic uncanny valley people to horrifying clumps of skin and hair. Perhaps worse than that is another image of a player transfigured into a living wicker man statue.

A Destructoid story about this bit of horror and/or weekend fun includes an early livestream of MLB The Show 17 from developer Sony San Diego Studio. It shows the glitch in action and makes it even worse. The flesh noodle face glitch still has functioning eyeballs and facial animations, making the unfortunate digital baseball players look like a cross between Swamp Thing and Kraft macaroni and cheese. Check it out for yourself if you’re morbidly curious. I’m just glad this glitch didn’t make it to the final release.
