Final Fantasy XV Fixes Chapter 13

Final Fantasy XV Fixes Chapter 13

Final Fantasy XV was a great success for Square-Enix, but it wasn’t without its fair share of criticisms. The latest update to the game introduces the first round of changes to one of the biggest sources of negative reactions to the game. It introduces new content to chapter 13, a portion of the game often under fire for its clumsy narrative delivery and isolated game mechanics.

In the Final Fantasy XV update notes, along with various bug fixes, gameplay tweaks and unrelated bonus content, the update also introduces what is known as “Chapter 13, Verse 2.” This is noted as an “alternate route featuring Gladiolus.” This is meant to address the gameplay shift in chapter 13, which is criticized due to the fact that Noctis temporarily loses his powers and the game takes on a sort of stealth-like section.

Adding Gladiolus to the chapter seems to tie into the recent DLC, which puts players in Gladiolus’ shoes and explores what happens during the time he briefly leaves the group. Chapter 13 Verse 2 could be related to the additional combat mechanics added when Gladiolus became playable.

Could this mean more additions to Chapter 13 are on the way once more of the character-specific DLC packs come out? Hopefully one day, we can consider Final Fantasy XV a complete game. I was really into it, but it’s a bit frustrating to see so many plot-related changes.
