Nintendo to Travel to Vermont to Milk Cows

Nintendo to Travel to Vermont to Milk Cows

In today’s weird and wonderful news, we have something related to Nintendo and the recent release of their Switch console. Like most Nintendo console releases in recent memory, their launch title is filled with goofy little mini games. With the Wii it was Wii Sports, and the Switch has 1-2-Switch .

Contained within 1-2-Switch is a mini game that has players milking imaginary cows. It sounds silly, it looks silly, and I can only imagine it feels silly too. There’s at least one group of people who took this mini game very seriously though. That is a Vermont-based history museum called the Billings Farm & Museum. They sent Nintendo a letter and subsequently made a comment via Facebook calling the company out. They challenged Nintendo to a cow milking challenge.

Six minutes after their Facebook post went live, the official Nintendo account replied with, “Challenge accepted!” The banter continued back in forth with Billings Farm & Museum saying, “Bring it!” Nintendo said they were booking flights and the Museum told them not to forget their mud boots. The witty duo finished their online spat with the Billings Farm & Museum stating, “Good luck! We’ve been at this over a 100 years.” To which Nintendo responded, “So have we!”

Polygon took the time to reach out to Nintendo for direct confirmation of this trip to Vermont. A rep from Nintendo said it is happening this week. Could 1-2 Switch really prepare us to milk cows? We’ll see. At any rate, it’s great to see a company with a sense of humor, that doesn’t take themselves too seriously, and doesn’t mind getting down and dirty on the farm from time to time.
