Mafia III Gets DLC and a Demo

Mafia III Gets DLC and a Demo

Video game demos aren’t very common anymore. Somewhere along the line, dropping a demo to help sell a game became an obstructive, cost-inefficient effort that devs just didn’t want to bother with anymore. But every now and then a demo will come out after a game, and Mafia 3 is the latest brand to try it out.

The release of Faster, Baby, the new DLC pack, coincides with this demo. While the demo is a sample of general gameplay, the DLC is a much bigger and better thing. In addition to new story missions, it is focused on adding vehicular options to Mafia III , adding new cars, new weapons like proximity mines and the ability to throw grenades while driving. Sounds dangerous.

The interesting thing here is that Mafia III , while praised for its interesting story, didn’t do so well otherwise in terms of its reception. This demo could be a calculated move to get more eyeballs on it after a lukewarm release, somewhat attributable to the number of other big AAA releases that came out around the same time. Perhaps this will help get the word out around Mafia III , unless it truly isn’t that great.
