Paprium Is a New Sega Genesis Game

Paprium Is a New Sega Genesis Game

In today’s weird news, Mega Drive and Sega Genesis owners might want to track down their consoles, wipe the dust off of ’em, and find a way to hook them up to their new school televisions. Developer WaterMelon Games is bringing something new to your something old, a game called Paprium .

Paprium is set in the year 8A2 in the Shanghai/Pyongyang/Tokyo area. In a city called Paprium, players follow Alex, Dice, and Tug as they fight their way through hordes of enemies. Think of it as a Streets of Rage- style brawler. Just to reiterate in case it didn’t fully sink in above, this is in fact a Sega Genesis game. You’ll have to either already own, buy from a reputable seller, or steal one of your friend’s classic systems to play, as it is going to be published on the original 80-MEG game cartridges and will ship in a Genesis box.

So far it looks like there will be two different U.S. versions of the game. The Limited Edition will have the game, the box, full-color instruction manual and “goodies,” whatever those are. The boxes will be numbered and signed. These should be available for pre-order on September 16, 2017 for $89.

If that’s not already expensive enough for your blood there’s also the Grandstick III Limited Edition of Paprium . This. as the name implies. includes the regular limited edition content and a professional grade arcade stick. The controller can be used with a Sega Genesis, but also has a USB connection so you can use it with other platforms. This will open for pre-orders on September 16 as well, but will run you $150.

If Paprium sounds like your kind of retro throwback, feel free to check out the trailer . Looks pretty epic to me!
