Big news from Hollywood! Do you keep hoping the DC Extended Universe could somehow reach the heights of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well, Warner Bros. is taking a step in the right direction. It’s working on getting Joss Whedon for its Batgirl movie.
The deal hasn’t been made yet, but apparently its close. This would mean Whedon would write the script, direct the movie, and act as a producer. The only other people allegedly connected to the Batgirl movie right now are Warner Bros.’ Toby Emmerich, Jon Berg, and Geoff Johns. If this goes through and happens, it would be the first Batgirl movie ever.
I’m incredibly excited about this news. I’m not big on the DC Comics movies. I haven’t cared for anything since The Dark Knight Rises . I loved what Whedon did with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and, more importantly, the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. I can only hope his Batgirl movie ends up being a fraction as good as The Avengers .
