WWE is all over the place in the mobile gaming space, and its latest venture involves Sega and developer The Tap Lab. The project is known as Tap Mania and “will pit superstars of past and present alongside players in a battle for supremacy across the WWE Universe.” So it is pretty much every WWE mobile game ever, what with the popularity of character-collecting mobile games.
The word “tap” being thrown around here tells us the genre we’re dealing with here. The Tap Lab’s flagship game is Politicats , a tapping game. For those unfamiliar, tapping games are all about exactly that and involve tapping on your device and watching numbers go up, managing different upgrade systems and whatnot along the way.
Do I, a WWE fan, look forward to tapping on wrestlers for hours and hours while goofy numbers go up in a dastardly attempt to try my patience until I pay for something? Not really, but as games like WWE Immortals and Supercard show, as long as it has a sense of humor about it I’ll probably try it out. More on Tap Mania will come via Sega’s social media channels. For now, I am appreciating the phrase “Sonic the Hedgehog” appearing in a WWE press release.
