Halo Wars 2: The Colony DLC Delayed for a Good Reason

The Colony DLC for Halo Wars 2 was meant to release early this month, but was delayed. Developers 343 Industries said that it pained them to make this decision. Their thinking was that they were going back on a promise by delaying it. But now we finally understand why they chose to do what they did.

There was apparently a game-breaking bug in The Colony DLC that 343 decided was crucial enough to fix before launch. The Colony will introduce some new units called Skitterers. They are a pretty awesome addition, since they work as friendly units that can auto-target on enemies. In other words, they act as turrets so you can just let them do their thing. The bug 343 encountered caused the Skitterers to continue firing at enemies once they locked on, no matter how far away they were or where they were location in terms of line of sight.

Imagine doing battle with a friend and coming to the realization that all your units are dying because they have one super OP turret unit that just fires relentlessly at you. That would suck right? 343 Industries thought so too, saying that it’s “… a cheap exploit that would immediately result in some really bad game experiences and [a] whole lot of salt from players on the receiving end.”

I’m sure most of us can agree with the decision to delay this Halo Wars 2 add-on. The wait won’t be much longer though, as the DLC is set to release some time next week.
