McDonald’s Offering Super Mario Toys in Happy Meals

McDonald’s Offering Super Mario Toys in Happy Meals

McDonald’s has officially partnered up with Nintendo and is releasing a series of Super Mario toys for its Happy Meals. From now until May 22, 2017, buying a Happy Meal nets you one of eight toys. Characters represented are Mario, Yoshi, Bowser, Peach, and Luigi. Also part of the set is an invincible Mario, a 1-up mushroom, and a red Koopa shell. Each toy does something, such as rolling on wheels or lighting up, in true McDonald’s toy fashion.

This isn’t the first time Nintendo has been a Happy Meal brand. Back when Mario Kart 8 came out, a line of toys based on that game was available. It’s probably not a coincidence this is coinciding with the release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe . We also knew this particular line was coming, as it already appeared in McDonald’s in Japan and Europe this year.

Considering Mario Kart is one of the best-selling Nintendo properties, even back when the Wii U was more or less failing, it makes sense to pile on as much brand awareness as possible during this release window.
