Far Cry 3 may be a last-gen game, but it’s one of Ubisoft’s most successful titles. While Far Cry 5 is inevitable, it might be a while before we hear anything about it. In the meantime, Ubisoft is being really sneaky and teasing us with some Far Cry 3 -flavored Internet shenanigans.
On its social media pages, Ubisoft posted a picture of Rook Island, the setting of Far Cry 3 . Accompanying it, in French, is the phrase, “An island we never truly left. Does that remind you of something?” Ubisoft also posted a picture of the game’s antagonist, Vaas.
Something is clearly going on, and it’s going on in the world of Far Cry 3 . Speculation is running wild, including rumors about an extension to the storyline in the form of a prequel or direct sequel. This kind of thing would be perfect to tide fans over until Far Cry 5 , without spending too much on new assets, right?
Far Cry 3 is coming up on its 5th anniversary this year. We could very well end up with a 1080p remaster. Perhaps there will be a Far Cry collection or something similar with preservation and value in mind? Ubisoft did recently release an Assassin’s Creed 2 collection for modern consoles.
