This year’s NBA 2K Legend Edition cover athlete has been revealed as Shaquille O’Neal, who has made an appearance in the last three games as the pregame show co-host. NBA 2K18 features the famous player on the Legend Edition Gold cover, which you will be able to pick up when it launches on September 19, 2017.
This is not Shaq’s NBA 2K cover debut. He has been on a series cover twice before. Actually, he was on two subsequent covers: NBA 2K6 and NBA 2K7. The version of Shaq on the game’s cover is from his tenure in the Los Angeles Lakers, when the team won three NBA championships.
The NBA 2K18 Legend Edition comes with digital and physical bonuses. It comes with 100,000 Virtual Currency for career mode, 20 card packs for MyTeam, and Shaq-themed in-game items. The physical stuff is comprised of a Shaq poster, five trading cards from Panini, and some stickers. Getting the Gold edition nets five more cards, a lenticular card, 150,000 more VC, and 20 more MyTeam card packs.
Along with the launch date and edition details, 2K Sports announced the full list of platforms NBA 2K18 will be available on for launch day. It will be on the usual platforms, but also on the previous generation PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, as well as the Nintendo Switch. Both Legend Editions net players early access to NBA 2K18 starting on September 15. The normal Legend Edition costs $99.99, and the Gold version will be 149.99.
