BattleTech Beta Has a Date and a Publisher

BattleTech Beta Has a Date and a Publisher

If you haven’t heard of the game BattleTech yet, then allow me to put it on your radar. It’s being developed by a studio called Harebrained Schemes and is a strategy game that features mechs. The game was supposed to have a Kickstarter backer beta this past March, but the developer delayed it to make some improvements. They want to have it at its best before they release it out into the wild.

That’s admirable, considering some games just get pushed out way too early and the players suffer because of it. Delaying is never an easy decision. There’s plenty of good news within all of this, as the delay was much needed and Harebrained has a brand new release date for everyone. The backer beta should be starting June 1 on PCs.

In bigger news, BattleTech has a publisher! Harebrained just announced their partnership with Paradox Interactive. The publisher is going to get a take of the game’s profits in exchange for helping the developer with marketing, localization, and putting in some cash to keep things going. The developers will be able to continue with full creative control, which is always important. You know what they say about too many chefs in the kitchen! (It’s so true, by the way.)

With Paradox Interactive’s help, we should soon see BattleTech in the news more often! For now though, watch for the backer beta to start on June 1!
