The biggest news to come out of the upcoming Sonic game recently is this: you can create your own character. This is a first for the series, and you should rightfully should get you excited. The character that you create at the beginning of Sonic Forces will not only be your playable character through the entire game, but it will also appear in cutscenes.
The type of animal you choose to base your character on will have an influence on the gameplay. How cool is that?! Wolves will have a magnet ability that draws in nearby rings. Rabbits will have a longer period of invincibility after taking hits. Cats will retain a ring after they’ve been hit. Dogs are man’s best friend so they have five rings when they restart after death. Bears will have a homing attack that allows them to blow away enemies. Birds will of course have an ability akin to flying, they will have a double jump ability that allows them to go higher. And finally hedgehogs will be able to still catch rings while they’re taking damage.
All of these characters will be further customized with Wispons, accessories, and outfit options. So not only will you have whatever animal type you want, you can also outfit them to suit whatever appearance you desire. The Wispons are powerful gadgets that give players the ability to attack as well as new ways to traverse levels. They’re based on the Color Powers from Sonic Colors .
