Red Dead Redemption 2 Delayed to 2018

Red Dead Redemption 2 Delayed to 2018

Surprising nobody, or at least myself, Rockstar has announced a delay for the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 . Despite its initial advertised 2017, the super-duper, AAA, Hollywood-style western game is now set to launch in Spring 2018. As stated in the announcement, Rockstar says that Red Dead Redemption 2 is the developer’s first native, current-gen game, and “some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.”

Rockstar apologizes, then says it is “excited to bring you more details about the game this summer.” As a bit of a consolation, the announcement contains a handful of new screenshots from the game. The screenshots are indeed quite pretty.

This news of a delay comes as no surprise for a game of this size, especially since as Rockstar pointed out, this is the first Rockstar project on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that isn’t a remaster. Getting to the same level of quality of what people will expect is an effort on a whole new level. That said, I’m sure something will be on display at E3, in some form or another.
