PlayStation Network Has 70 Million Active Users

PlayStation Network Has 70 Million Active Users

Sony had its Sony Corporate Strategy Meeting this week, and with it came some publicly available numbers that may make anyone with vested interests in Sony’s success feel pretty validated. For example, Sony disclosed the PlayStation Network has 70 million active users a month. While the presentation did not specify what that number means or how it’s broken down, it’s safe to assume this is a combined total from all Sony’s current platforms, including the PlayStation 3 and Vita. To compare, Gamespot says Microsoft recently produced a number of 52 million for monthly active Xbox Live users between the Xbox One and PC.

Other interesting stats were included in the presentation. Each week, PS4 users collectively spend 600 million hours on the console in some form. Also, at the end of the previous fiscal year, PlayStation Plus had 26.4 million paying members. Sony has previously announced it’s approaching 80 million PS4 units sold. As part of the presentation, Sony plans to work more with the available content to enhance the experience and bring that number higher.

So yeah, it seems like the PlayStation 4 is doing pretty well.
