Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Details Leaked

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Details Leaked

This has been a heck of a ride. First there rumors, then the confirmation, now we have details and official art. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is 100% real and that is 100% the actual title. Investigator Liam Robertson released a leaked piece of key art showing the official logo and character designs, and now Nintendo World Report has got its hands on a full, internal presentation discussing further details about what the heck this game even is.

As has been suggested for a while, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a turn-based RPG. There was speculation for a while that it was more of a strategy RPG, but that may not be the case. “Tactical options” are part of the presentation, but it sounds more like what we’re used to from games like Mario and Luigi – characters being able to use various items and abilities on their respective turns. A screenshot of the game looks like an old-school kind of setup too, with a line of characters following Mario.

The slide explaining the details suggests Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle is about 35% exploration and 65% turn-based combat. There are 4 worlds, puzzles, secret zones, multiplayer and more. It also says “Control of Tuttorio… no direct control of characters.” Perhaps the player guides their team around the map with some gimmicky nonsense? Who knows! Later slides also suggest a summer 2017 release, a 20-hour story mode and confirms Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine.

I don’t even with this game, honestly. I’m tickled as can be, and have been since the rumors started, but I can’t tell how I feel about the Rabbids. Can Nintendo help make them a Thing again? I have no idea, but I’m excited to get my hands on this at E3, because at its core is a Mario RPG, and I’ll always give those a whirl.
