Bandai Namco Thriller Get Even Delayed

Bandai Namco Thriller Get Even Delayed

Sometimes, something awful will happen in the world, and publishers end up having to deal with awkward release timings that can come off to many as being in poor taste. While many times these events go on as planned to the dismay of many, Bandai Namco is standing out by delaying an entire game release out of respect of the recent events in Manchester.

Get Even , a survival horror-style game published by Bandai Namco and developed by The Farm 51, was originally planned to drop on Friday, May 26. As Polygon describes it, the game is an “anxiety-inducing, disturbing psychological thriller.” Players wake up in an empty house with no idea what’s going on and have to protect themselves and a young girl from unknown predators.

In a statement, a Bandai Namco representative said, “Given recent events and out of respect we have decided to postpone the commercial release of Get Even to June 23. We would like to express our deepest condolences to everyone concerned.”

Nobody is suggesting Get Even contributes to terrorism or violence, but having a game with such intense subject matter release and get advertised in the wake of such a tragic event can certainly reflect poorly on the global and social awareness of everyone involved. It’s a respectable move to delay the game, and not inadvertently make any difficult times worse for anyone.
