Final Fantasy VII Team “Urgently Recruiting”

Final Fantasy VII Team “Urgently Recruiting”

According to a report by Siliconera, the team in charge of Square Enix’s ambitious Final Fantasy VII Remake is “urgently recruiting.” The game’s development is ostensibly ready to kick into motion, and there are not nearly enough bodies to get the job done. In response to what appears to be an aggressive need, key members of the Final Fantasy VII Remake development team and Square Enix corporate totem pole have posted personal messages to prospective applicants on Square Enix’s official website.

The messages are from Business Division 1 Executive Yoshinori Kitase , Final Fantasy VII Remake Development Leader Naoki Hamaguchi, and Final Fantasy VII Remake Director Tetsuya Nomura himself. The statements are brief, but talk about the importance of Final Fantasy VII and how eager they are to bring the story back for the new generations.

Nomura’s statement also says something interesting: “As those of you concerned with the industry may already know, the number of domestic staff is significantly lower compared to that of foreign high-definition developers. Therefore, in order to further strengthen the development of this title, we must urgently recruit as much staff as possible.”

This is fascinating. Especially considering the development histories of various huge, Japanese Square Enix games over the years and the odd issues with Square Enix’s western partners, including the recently abrupt severing of Hitman developer IO Interactive.
