Hitman Copyright Going with Developer in Sale

Hitman Copyright Going with Developer in Sale

Fans of Agent 47, don’t give up hope quite yet! Though it’s been about a month since Square Enix announced they are selling IO Interactive, there’s some good news.

It would seem that Square Enix is working hard to ensure the future of the Hitman franchise. While they are still selling IO Interactive, they plan to sell the rights to Hitman along with them. This will allow the developer to continue work on the series that they are known for. Without the rights, IO would have to cease and desist all work on any Hitman games.

It’s really great to see a large company like Square Enix recognize a developers hard work. Without Hitman , IO wouldn’t be what it is today, and some serious re-branding would need to take place to keep it in business without the title.

In other IO Interactive news, they did announce some staff layoffs last week. While they might be downsizing, there’s a silver lining. A smaller team might make the sale of the developer easier, since it’ll be kinder to investors’ pocketbooks.

There’s no solid news on IO Interactive or Hitman , but clearly all the pieces are moving to finish the puzzle and find the series a new home.
