NBA Playgrounds Dev Promising Free Shaq-Fu

NBA Playgrounds Dev Promising Free Shaq-Fu

The NBA Playgrounds launch didn’t go so well for Nintendo Switch owners, as the game shipped without promised online multiplayer. Saber Interactive is releaseing a patch, eventually, to fix that, but in the meantime the developer is trying to make amends. How? With Shaq-Fu .

Saber Interactive is also the developer of Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn . This sequel to the eternally made fun of SNES-era game is the result of a successful crowdfunding effort and was recently announced for the Nintendo Switch. As an apology for the promised features being unavailable on launch, anyone who purchased or purchases NBA Playgrounds before the patch comes out will receive a free copy of Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn when it launches.

Neither Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn or the NBA Playgrounds patch has a release date. We do know a bit about the patch, though. Matthew Karch of Saber Interactive said it will address ” friends, online tournaments, reworked shot mechanics, new players, and endless performance and balance changes.”

I have no idea if this is a good deal or not. NBA Playgrounds hasn’t done so well in the review department, and Shaq-Fu is something that’s so deeply entrenched in irony there’s no telling how anyone actually feels about it having a sequel. But hey, free stuff is always a good PR move.
