Rocket League Anniversary Update Brings New Content

Rocket League Anniversary Update Brings New Content

Rocket League is about to turn two years-old, and Psyonix is getting ready to celebrate in a big way. And I don’t just mean further sponsorship of WWE events. At the RLCS Season Three World Championship, Psyonix revealed details on its upcoming update, celebrating the release of Rocket League back on July 7, 2015.

The update hits on July 5, 2017, and starts with a new standard arena. Champions Field is a celebration of the Rocket League competitive scene, designed as a Rocket League -themed stadium arena set complete with a giant statue, “triple-decker seating” and tons of fun lighting effects.

Competitive Season 5 also launches with the new update, and the structure of Competitive Seasons is going to undergo some changes. Details on what that means aren’t provided, but Psyonix does note that a new season means new rewards for participants in the previous. Rewards will include a new in-game title for the Grand Champion, and other rewards will be unique trails that show off when your car hits Supersonic speed.

Finally, the new update will bring in a new Overdrive Crate. Overdrive Crates will drop randomly after online matches and contain two new cars: Anius GP and Centio V17. The crates will also contain various new wheels, decals and Black Market items.

More is coming aside from that, including new music, trophies and Goal Explosions. Psyonix plans to provide more details over the next month.
