Breaking Bad “VR Experience” Coming to PlayStation

Breaking Bad “VR Experience” Coming to PlayStation

Breaking Bad may be over, but it’s not quite “over.” A new “VR Experience” is currently in development for the PlayStation VR platform. The exciting part? Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan is involved.

Sony has yet to confirm many details on the project, save for the fact that this isn’t going to be considered a “game” and won’t be ready for release this year. It is also noted that, due to the technology for 360-degree video equipment still being in its infancy, this project will be using 3D animation, rather than live action.

Andrew House, global chief executive of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said that the company reached out to several big show-runners. Vince Gilligan was one of the most responsive to the idea of telling new stories using PlayStation VR.

While software for PlayStation VR has been slow and uneven, many in VR development spaces are talking about and exploring this concept of “VR experiences.” The technology is still developing, but as games continue to roll out, we could be seeing more and more of these multimedia expansion-style software efforts gaining steam and popularity.
