Xbox One X Will Download 4K Assets Automatically

The Internet is currently up in flames thanks to a recent release from Microsoft regarding their new console, the Xbox One X. It would seem that Microsoft is setting their consoles to download video assets depending on the console. As in, the Xbox One S will download 1080p assets, and the Xbox One X will download 4K assets.

This is obviously not dependant on what type of television you’re using to play on said consoles. So if you don’t have a 4K TV, but are playing on an Xbox One X, you’ll still be using space on your hard drive for those assets even though you can’t utilize them. This is a bit of a let-down for many users, since they don’t want crucial space taken up by fluff software. The Xbox One X has a 1 TB hard drive however, so there is a lot of starting room. The Xbox One X also allows for the use of external hard drives, so you do have that option as well if your internal space fills up.

This almost seems like a push for 4K technology. Make everyone download it so they’ll finally get curious and drop the money on a 4K TV. Otherwise, what are they allowing all that download space to be used for right?

Do you own a 4K TV and have plans to get an Xbox One X? Are you still using 1080p and thinking twice about the new console now? Let us know in the comments!
