Phantom Dust on Xbox One Crushes Numbers Compared to Original

The new, HD port of Phantom Dust on Xbox One seems to be a success, especially compared to the original Phantom Dust on the first Xbox. A surprise within a surprise, Phantom Dust launched last month not only as a Play Anywhere title, but for free with some microtransactions. Today, Microsoft has announced that Phantom Dust has achieved a milestone of over a million players. A new patch for the game, releasing Wednesday, was also announced and detailed.

Adam Isgreen, creative director, said that this over a million number “blows away the original numbers” compared to the original release of Phantom Dust . Totally accurate numbers are not exactly easy to come by, but internal data suggests a ballpark figure of roughly 50,000 sales in North America.

For the patch, the most significant update is the addition of a daily “skill reward” system. Players who log into the game will get one skill for free every day. This includes skills that came in the original game’s expansion, which are not available in Phantom Dust ’s current form. Skills can also be purchased in a pack that includes three of each for five dollars.

Phantom Dust is also getting voice chat, a mission guide and other various bug and performance fixes.
