Netflix Renews Castlevania

Netflix Renews Castlevania

Netflix’s new and ostensibly successful Castlevania series, produced by Dredd 3D ’s Adi Shankar, only just made its debut on July 7. However, enough time has gone by for the company to decide to renew the series for a second season. Not only was it renewed, but the episode order was doubled from this season from four to eight.

The series, based on Castlevania 3 , was written by storied comic book writer Warren Ellis, produced by the aforementioned Adi Shankar, and animated by Unlimited Media’s Frederator Studios. The voice cast includes Graham McTavish, Richard Armitage, James Callis, Emily Swallow, Matt Frewer, Tony Amendola, and Alejandra Reynoso. It’s a rather major affair.

This should come as great news for Castlevania fans. While expectations were tepid when the series was announced, it appears to have been quite well-received by its intended audience. This is also great news for Konami, which has a long way to go to rebuild its brand after all the Hideo Kojima and Metal Gear drama following the release of Metal Gear Solid V . The Castlevania series has also been in stasis since the second Lords of Shadow game flopped, so maybe this animated series’ success could help revive that!
