Minecraft Pixelmon Mod Shut Down

Minecraft Pixelmon Mod Shut Down

In the age of prolific modding, there’s always a chance that something won’t sit well with original publishers. This is especially true when modding communities are using franchises without permission. IP protection is serious business in the pop culture world, and that’s been proven once again. There was an extremely popular mod for Minecraft that has been around since 2012 called Pixelmon. “Was” is key here.

For those possibly unfamiliar, the mod allowed Minecraft users to essentially play a voxel version of Pokemon . They could catch, train, and evolve Pokemon. Players could also create Pokeballs and fight their pocket monsters against their friends’. Not only did Pixelmon have these basic Pokemon staples, it also had voice acting, fossils, and the ability to breed Pokemon. It was kind of a big deal.

This is it for it though, as The Pokemon Company has requested Pixelmon close its doors. You’ll no longer be able to download the mod, but as this is the Internet, you’ll most likely be able to find it by less reputable means. Many fans are mourning the loss of their favorite mod, while others are taking the time to say, “I told you so.” Either way, we bid adieu to the beautiful Pixelmon.
