Sony Asks for Beta Testers for PlayStation 4 Firmware 5.0

Sony Asks for Beta Testers for PlayStation 4 Firmware 5.0

A new PlayStation 4 firmware update is on the way! Sony is hard at work on 5.0. You know what that means: beta testing! When version 4.50 of the PlayStation 4 system was getting close to launch, Sony invited a select number of beta testers to enjoy the update ahead of everyone else. Their goal was to get feedback to better suit the update to actual users. Some of the features that were added last were HDD support, custom wallpapers, and Quick Menu refresh. Users who participated last time can join in this beta test as well, if they’d like, while people who missed out last time can try and participate in this newest one.

This time around, there are even more undisclosed features that will be added to the PlayStation 4. According to Sony, they will provide details later on what the update will actually add. Though people who sign up will get to see, rather than hear, about these features. Registration for the beta test opened today and will stay open until it starts in early August. The only stipulations are that you must have a PlayStation 4 with an internet connection, a Master Account, and you must be 18 years of age or older. If you don’t like the update, you can roll back to the previous system software whenever you’d like during the beta.

Hopefully you do like the changes however, as those that are received well will most likely make it into the next PlayStation 4 update. It’s great that companies are allowing users to give feedback on even the most basic things now, like system updates. Get signed up, and you can help shape the future of the PlayStation 4.
