Pokemon Go fans have been chomping at the bit for legendary Pokemon since the game launched, and now they’re finally confirmed. In fact, they’re coming this weekend. The first Pokemon Go Fest is taking place this weekend, and the game will feature the Pokemon Go Fest Challenge. Players will need to catch a certain number of Pokemon during the event, collectively. Once that number is achieved, a legendary Pokemon will appear at Chicago’s Grant Park. If the players there can defeat it in time, that Pokemon will appear in the game around the world.
For players not in Chicago for the Pokemon Go Fest, it will be possible to find a Legendary Egg at Gyms, after which a battle will pay out similar to Raid Battles. If you catch a legendary Pokemon, it will be strong, but you will be unable to be set to defend a Gym.
Niantic hasn’t said what will happen if players fail to succeed at the Chicago event. The Pokemon Go Fest will be live-streamed, so we can all find out what happens together. Hopefully, all of those trainers will succeed!
