CheatCC’s SDCC 2017 News Roundup

The San Diego Comic-Con was held over the weekend, and as we all know there’s a lot more than comic book nerdery at the event. Plenty of video game news was announced at the enormous convention, and we’re here to round it up in one spot for you. Here are some of the top stories out of SDCC 2017.

  • Middle-earth: Shadow of War had a panel at SDCC, and a new story trailer was shown to attendees. The trailer shows off Shelob, a giant spider creature from the Lord of the Rings series. In the trailer, Shelob… takes human form and delivers some important information to Talion.
  • Bandai Namco had a giant robot-flavored announcement at the event, revealing to the proper audience that the upcoming arcade brawler Gundam Versus will have an open beta test ahead of its September 29 release.
  • News broke ahead of the show that SEGA’s partnership with Archie Comics has come to an end, and now we know where Sonic is heading next. In 2018, Sonic the Hedgehog will debut with IDW, the same publisher behind several other licensed comics, such as Transformers , Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles , My Little Pony and more.
  • Street Fighter V’ s Laura, Ibuki, and Rashid are getting sporty costumes. They’ll be $3.99 each.
  • Iron Fist is getting a second season on Netflix. Finn Jones is returning as Danny Rand, Jessica Henwick will be Colleen Wing again, and Simone Missick will reprise her role as Misty Knight, from Marvel’s Luke Cage . A The Defenders trailer was shown for the series, which will begin appearing on Netflix on August 18.
  • Ben Affleck will remain as Batman in the DC cinematic universe.
  • Michelle Pfeiffer will be Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp in Ant-Man and The Wasp . She’ll play the mother of Hope Van Dyne, the new Wasp and former partner of Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man.
