Destiny 2 Beta Extended and Gets a New Area

Destiny 2 Beta Extended and Gets a New Area

Destiny 2 has been all over in the news lately, most importantly because of its beta. It was supposed to end quickly after it began, but it looks like Bungie has extended it for just a little longer. By “little longer,” I mean two days. The Destiny 2 open beta will now end on Tuesday, July 25 at 6pm PT/9pm ET. The extension is said to be for extra service testing, but no matter the reason, it means just a little more time with the game before the wait for full release. This time will come earlier for console gamers, as Destiny 2 releases on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One September 6. PC players have to wait until October 24.

There’s been some pretty cool stuff revealed in the beta for Destiny 2 thus far. From small easter eggs, to large expanses of playable area. The one in particular we got a hint at recently was The Farm. Destiny had the Tower, Reef, and Lighthouse, but Destiny 2 will have The Farm. It remains to be seen if this location will be the only social area in the game, but for now it’s looking like a great start.

The Farm was open for one single hour last night and had some features either locked or not there at all, but there was still plenty to see. The Farm is an expansive rural area that already holds some secrets. At The Farm, you can play some soccer with friends or check out the “X” symbol painted in the grass at night. There was even a bunch of players who figured out how to walk on the power lines that soar high over the area. According to players who checked out The Farm, there will be a Cryptarch, an Eververse shop, a vault for your items, and potential places for factions and Crucible vendors.

No matter what you’ll find to do in The Farm, it is good to know there will be a definite opportunity to meet new people or catch up with old friends. Looks like it’ll be a fun place to hang.
