Metroid amiibos Unlock Content in Samus Returns

Metroid amiibos Unlock Content in Samus Returns

Later this summer, a traditional-styled Metroid game is going to debut for the first time since, arguably, Metroid Fusion on the Game Boy Advance. Metroid: Samus Returns is a remake of the Game Boy’s Metroid II: Return of Samus and is set to drop for the 3DS in September this year. Nintendo has also revealed a pair of new amiibo figures for the game. Now, Nintendo has announced what those new amiibo, as well as older figures, unlock in the new game.

With the new Samus amiibo figure, players can unlock an extra Aeon tank, which serves as a backup for when players run out of Aeon energy. Once the game is over, players will also get to unlock a Metroid II art gallery. With the original Samus amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. line, players will get an extra missile tank, and a concept art gallery for after the game. Zero Suit Samus will unlock a reserve energy tank as well as a music gallery.

Finally, the Metroid amiibo, which is squishy, will help players locate Metroids on their map. It also unlocks a new difficulty mode, Fusion mode. Fusion is not only more challenging, but also outfits Samus in the blue and yellow Fusion suit.
