Walmart Cancels All Super NES Classic Pre-orders

Walmart Cancels All Super NES Classic Pre-orders

If you got a pre-order for the Super NES Classic Edition from Walmart, join me in despair. Walmart, the only retailer to offer pre-orders in America so far, has canceled every single order for the device. This is the first point of controversy for a device everyone expects controversy from, and it’s quite a doozy.

As it turns out, Walmart wasn’t supposed to be selling pre-orders for the Super NES Classic Edition in the first place. On July 21, for about a half hour, pre-orders went live as a result of a “technical glitch.” While some orders were quietly canceled over the weekend, Walmart released an official statement this week and canceled all the remaining orders.

Anyone who paid for their pre-order with PayPal or a gift card has been refunded alongside the order cancellation. Anyone who opted to use a credit card was never charged in the first place. Walmart has yet to say anything else on the matter, beyond providing an explanation. No compensation has been offered or given, nor does the company have any information about real pre-orders.
