Mewtwo Coming to Pokemon Go

Mewtwo Coming to Pokemon Go

Despite the catastrophe that was the Pokemon Go Fest in Chicago, Niantic is continuing to update their game. Raid battles have been the newest addition, bringing in legendary Pokemon like Articuno, Zapdoes, Moltres, and Lugia. These will apparently be reappearing in the game between August 14 and August 31. So if you and your friends didn’t have a chance to capture any legendaries yet, here’s your second chance!

This reintroduction of previous legendaries is at least partially in celebration of a brand new one coming to Pokemon Go . First introduced at the Pokemon Go Stadium event in Yokohama, Japan, Mewtwo has made its entrance. Thousands of people in Japan have already captured the legendary, and now it’s being added worldwide. Mewtwo’s Raid Battle is going to be a little different than the previous ones however. This Pokemon will only be possible to battle and catch through “Exclusive” Raid Battles.

Exclusive Raid Battles are invite-only events, so here’s what you need to do to “get on the list.” You can only join an Exclusive Raid Battle at gyms that you have previously completed a Raid Battle. So your best bet is to join as many Raid Battles and defeat as many Raid Bosses as you can in order to receive an Exclusive invite. Within the invitation, you’ll get a notice of when the Exclusive Raid is going to take place. That way you’ll be able to plan your extra special battles ahead of time.

Mewtwo is the first Pokemon to be available in Exclusive Raid Battles, but apparently many more Pokemon will become available in this way as well. Certain Raid Eggs will hatch over the next few weeks that will become Exclusive Raid Battles. So get out there and Raid Battle with your friends! Mewtwo and others will be popping up at gyms all over the world in the coming weeks.
