Sega’s Making a Fist of the North Star Game

Sega’s Making a Fist of the North Star Game

Anime and manga fans will recognize the title Fist of the North Star almost immediately. It’s a bit of a cult classic within the community, and everyone knows at least something about the infamous series. Turns out it might be time for gamers to get to know Fist of the North Star as well. A new title in the franchise has been announced for release on the PlayStation 4 in Japan.

This won’t be the first Fist of the North Star inspired video game, but it will be the most recent of course. Hokuto ga Gotoku is set to release on the PlayStation 4 in Japan some time in 2018. There’s no word on whether or not it’ll have a Western release, but a girl can hope right? It’s being made by the team behind the Yakuza games.

For those that are unfamiliar with the series as a whole, Fist of the North Star is about a man named Kenshiro, He practices a type of martial arts called Hokuto Shinken and lives in a post-nuclear war Earth. Most of the world has been wiped out, but Kenshiro protects those who are left that can’t defend themselves. The franchise is called Fist of the North Star because Kenshiro has scars on his chest that look like the Big Dipper.

Hokuto ga Gotoku will take place after the events from the Fist of the North Star manga. In it, Kenshiro will be searching for his missing fiance Yuria. She’s rumored dead, but Kenshiro keeps hope alive that she might be out there somewhere. He searches relentlessly for her while he beats the crap out of his enemies.

Here’s hoping Hokuto ga Gotoku will get some kind of Western release in 2018 or beyond as well!
