Metal Gear Solid Movie Director “Re-working” Script

Metal Gear Solid Movie Director “Re-working” Script

Years ago, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts was attached to Sony’s Metal Gear Solid movie project. At the time, Vogt-Roberts was a fairly unknown name, and this cast a degree of uncertainty over the prospects for this film in the eyes of the Metal Gear Solid fanbase. Now, with the very well-received Kong: Skull Island , not only has Vogt-Roberts become a Hollywood commodity, but he’s been able to leverage that to get his hands dirty with the script.

Vogt-Roberts also happens to be the director of the just-released Destiny 2 live action trailer. Gamespot was able to sneak in some questions about the Metal Gear Solid movie in an interview. Vogt-Roberts had a lot to say about the project, and it seems like the source material is in good hands.

The interesting thing about the interview is that, ostensibly recently, Vogt-Roberts was able to use his new pull to really take control of the project in a way a younger, less renowned director may have not been able to. He was able to tell the studio the project was headed in a bad direction. He now claims they’re in the process of “re-working” the script, and even looking at reducing the movie’s budget in order to tell the story he wants to tell as a fan of the games growing up.

As a Metal Gear fan myself, knowing that Kong: Skull Island was a dope movie and reading this in that context really makes me think this movie has a chance.
