New Tomb Raider Film Coming in 2018

New Tomb Raider Film Coming in 2018

If you’ve been playing and enjoying the Crystal Dynamics reboot of the Tomb Raider series, then you’ll be psyched to hear a movie with the same premise is coming soon. The film isn’t directly affiliated with the recent games, but it will utilize the same concept. This is Lara Croft before she was a seasoned explorer. This Lara Croft will be naive and still learning her way around the world.

Alicia Vikander has been chosen to play this version of Lara, and there’s already a photo of her in the role. A trailer will apparently be releasing soon as well, so keep an eye out for that. In the meantime, we know that Lara’s father will be played by Dominic West, the villain by Walton Goggins, and a final key player will be Daniel Wu. Wu’s character will be a ship captain that travels along with Lara. The director of this newest Tomb Raider film is Roar Uthaug.

Supposedly, the film will be in theaters March 16, 2018. That’s quite some time from now, but with a trailer coming soon, the hype train will be leaving the station. Director Uthaug says that he is looking forward to showcasing a whole new side of Lara Croft to movie-goers. This Lara is more human than bad-ass adventurer. Those who have played the Tomb Raider reboot games will recognize this version of her, but it’ll be a treat to see her on the big screen at last.
