Okami HD Announced

Okami HD Announced

After a few waves of rumors, Capcom has finally come out with not only confirmation, but localization news right out of the gate. Yes, Okami HD is making the move from last-gen to current-gen, complete with 4K support.

This release of Okami will have a few more options to tinker with than the previous version. For starters, players will be able to toggle between the widescreen 16:9 version of the game, and the original 4:3 resolution. ( Okami was first released on the Wii and PlayStation 2.) A loading screen mini-game, which could earn in-game bonuses and was missing from the first HD re-release, has also been restored.

One point of interest that isn’t addressed in the Capcom Unity announcement is the ending credits. The original Okami had a spectacular credits theme, complete with an insert song. Due to either rights issues or problems with the now-defunct Clover being the original developer, that ending sequence was replaced in the HD version. No word yet on whether or not it’s still gone.
