Xbox Lead Phil Spencer Promoted

Xbox Lead Phil Spencer Promoted

Phil Spencer has spent the last several years as head of Microsoft’s Xbox division. He has done a lot of work to repair the Xbox One brand after early issues leading up to launch, and has largely been the face of Microsoft’s whole gaming space. Now, he’s been promoted to an even higher tier within the company.

Phil Spencer, according to Business Insider, has been promoted to Executive Vice President of Gaming. Spencer is now part of Microsoft’s executive leadership, which means he reports directly to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. Before being promoted, Spencer reported to Terry Myerson, Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices Group.

This promotion is part of a companywide reorganization effort by Nadella, which started in July and intended to focus more on “customer solutions” overall as a company. Microsoft continues to undergo changes across the board as it continues to transform into more of a service-oriented company.

Spencer has been with Microsoft since 1988 and took over the Xbox division in 2014.
