SteamVR Home Updated with Trophies and Screenshots

SteamVR Home Updated with Trophies and Screenshots

SteamVR Home is seeing a massive update that makes the service feel like more of a “home.” Steam is adding several ways to customize this VR space and make it more personalized and functional. For example, there are ways to show off your game library that double as launcher shortcuts.

The biggest part of the update is trophies. These are not achievements, although those are relevant here too. Trophies are “physical” representations of your SteamVR game library, which you can display on an actual shelf. It shows the game, changes based on your achievements and badges, and even acts as a quick way to launch the games you choose to display in this form.

You can also take screenshots from games, either ones you’ve taken yourself or screens from the community, and hang them up on your SteamVR Home walls like artwork. In similar fashion, Steam VR Panels, essentially shortcuts to features, can also be placed around your VR space. Steam Audio features are also available, making use of concepts like positional sounds using binaural audio techniques.

The SteamVR Home space also now includes some minigames, including a boxing ring, punching bags, and a little training robot. Existing tools and furniture are also seeing visual facelifts and other little adjustments. Great and big things are happening!
