Ex-Valve Artist Reveals Team Fortress 2 Concept Art

Ex-Valve Artist Reveals Team Fortress 2 Concept Art

Drew Wolf, an independent artist who spent several years full-time at Valve, appears to have updated his online portfolio with stuff that he worked on at Valve that never came to fruition. Not only does Wolf’s work reveal an entirely new game at Valve which never saw the light of day, but an intriguing proposition for Team Fortress 2 which also never ended up in the game.

According to Wolf, at one point Valve was considering adding women to the cast of Team Fortress 2 . Wolf himself was responsible for not only the visual design of these characters, but also their story and character development. These women are counterparts to the male members of the cast, but also designed to be “entirely new characters.” This seemed to only go as far as discussions and possibilities, but it’s cool to see all the concept art.

Wolf’s art also reveals an entirely new, unknown game that was at one point under development at Valve. It has no title, but is described as a “fantasy adventure game centered around cooperative combat and driven by story.” The art shows ten different characters, each with a name, title, and icon. Wolf said the initial goal was to create as many different groups of four characters as possible, then all the ideas were whittled down to ten.
