Ataribox’s Price and Release Window Get Narrowed Down

Ataribox’s Price and Release Window Get Narrowed Down

I’ve been receiving emails about the Ataribox for quite some time now, but no major information had been released quite yet. I knew it was a thing and that it was from Atari. But now, there’s finally some solid information to go on.

Supposedly the Ataribox will have an AMD processor, Radeon graphics, and has a Linux operating system. Atari seems to be hoping to coax PC users away from their battle stations. Supposedly the Ataribox will not be just for gaming, but also streaming, social media, apps, web browsing, and music. But what about the games, right? There will apparently be all kinds of Atari classic games pre-loaded to the console, as well as the capability to run modern titles. These newer inclusions to the Ataribox will be announced soon.

So how much will all of this run someone? Atari says their console will be between $250 and $300. This all depends on what edition and memory configuration you want to buy. That there will be different memory options isn’t that unusual, as far as consoles are concerned. Those who can afford the highest level of memory space can buy that one, while those looking to save money can get a smaller memory option. The different editions announcement sounds intriguing though.

It sounds like Atari is going to be releasing more information about their Ataribox soon. But for now, we know the console will be shipping sometime in the spring of 2018.
