Oculus Creates Steam-Like Refund Policy

Oculus Creates Steam-Like Refund Policy

Oculus is clearly still making moves to keep their place in the virtual reality industry a positive one. They’ve initiated a refund policy for both of their VR headsets in an effort to stay in consumer’s good graces. As most probably well know, there’s one really good reason for a refund policy when it comes to VR: motion sickness. No matter how many VR titles you’ve played or how difficult it is for you to get motion sickness, it can still happen.

This random chance that you might have an adverse reaction to a game can make it difficult to buy it in the first place. But if you know there’s a refund policy in place to protect you, it makes that purchase much easier. The Oculus refund policy is different depending on the headset. The Oculus Rift refund allows players to return a game within two weeks of buying it, so long as they’ve played under two hours of it. This goes into an automatic return system that should have buyers’ money back within 14 days at most.

The Samsung Gear policy is quite a bit different. Buyers of a Gear VR game have to return it within three days to qualify. Also, they can only do it if they’ve played less than 30 minutes of the game.

Oculus made a point of mentioning that you could possibly get your money back for a game even if you don’t qualify for the automatic refund. So if you buy a game and forget to play it for a while, then realize it makes you deathly ill, you can contact Oculus Support. They’ll work with you on your claim. Depending on the reasoning, you could still get a refund.

This is a great step towards a more positive corporate appearance to the general public. So here’s hoping Oculus continues to improve into the future.
