Nintendo World Championships to Include WWE Superstar

Nintendo fans, listen up! The Nintendo World Championships 2017 are happening on October 7 in New York City. There are 16 players that have already fought tooth and nail for their spot in the competition and will be going head-to-head. They won’t be the only ones though, as Nintendo announced that an additional eight players have been invited. These eight players hail from the United States, Europe, Canada, and Mexico. Two of the released names include Asa Butterfield ( Super Smash Bros. tournament player and Hugo actor) and the WWE Superstar, Bayley.

The other eight invited players include speed-runners, tournament players, and online personalities. They’re joining the 16 qualifying players who competed in two age brackets. Between the combined 24 players, they’ll compete through a bevy of different Nintendo games. These will include old classics, and brand new titles, including the recently released Metroid: Samus Returns on 3DS.

The Nintendo World Championships 2017 will be hosted by Andrea Rene, and will include commentary by Jordan Kent. If you’re in New York City, you can potentially snag a first-come, first-served free ticked outside the Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom on October 7. Those who can’t make it, or don’t get a ticket can watch online starting at 5 PM eastern time.
