Final Fantasy XV Update Kills a Fan Theory

Final Fantasy XV Update Kills a Fan Theory

It would seem last Friday was the day the music died for many Final Fantasy XV players and fans. Some new additions to the story were released with the game’s latest update that completely undid a popular fan theory. This theory is related to a part of Chapter 12 in Final Fantasy XV . The theory breaking things added to this chapter are mostly illustrations and a voice over from Shiva.

This is where the spoilers start for anyone who would prefer to play this new content first. For those that just want to know if it’s worth it to go back and watch, here’s what’s been added.

First I have to name and explain the fan theory that has been crushed to bits. It was called the Pitioss Ruins theory, and many fans have been divided on this subject for some time. The story the fans created was that Ifrit, one of the Astral gods, was in love with a goddess named Eos. The tale that ensues is incredibly complicated, but essentially Ifrit lost Eos and humans began to hate him.

According to the new information revealed in Chapter 12 of Final Fantasy XV , this is not the case at all. In fact, Ifrit was in love with Shiva. Supposedly, the people of Solheim turned their backs on all of the Astrals. Ifrit was the most offended by this, seeing as how the Astrals had only been good to the humans. It was then that he planned to destroy Solheim and everyone in it. As much as the other Astrals still hated being betrayed, they fought on the side of the humans against Ifrit. Pitioss Ruins theorists had to abandon their previous ideas, and those that didn’t follow it felt a sense of closure.

If you want to check out this revelation yourself, go to Chapter 12 in the chapter select menu. While you’re there, you can check out the other new content that’s been added to the chapter. Unlike the Ifrit story, the other new content features full cutscenes.
