Nintendo and supply are two words that, when put together, can make certain people upset. That’s because shortages have been plaguing fans for a while now, and no matter how many more systems Nintendo ships, there never seems to be enough to meet demand. According to Digitimes, Nintendo has yet again increased its orders for shipping Nintendo Switches, this time to an impressive 2 million a month.

Nintendo’s 2017 goal for shipments is 20 million units for the Nintendo Switch. As we know, Nintendo’s sales goals for the new hybrid console have only gone up as the device continues to be a surprising success for everyone involved. By June 2017, nearly 5 million Switches have already been sold.

Coming soon is a further expansion in Asia. Gaming consoles, previously banned in China, have been okay since 2014. While Switch supply in Japan in still rough, Nintendo plans to bring the Switch to China in 2018, which will lead to even more shipment volume needed.

Rather than manufactured scarcity, as some suggest, or issues with production, Switch shortages are largely due to a larger shortage of parts. Nintendo is now competing in mobile hardware space, going up against companies like Apple for parts.
